What was built
Kahf is a browser for Muslim users and their families, built on Chromium with AI content filtering as its distinguishing feature. Rather than blocking a page outright, the AI classifies images as they load and blurs anything inappropriate in place, which keeps the rest of the page usable. That same filtering extends to YouTube recommendations and search results, so the browser is doing continuous classification across the sites people actually use rather than checking against a fixed blocklist alone.
The engineering challenge
Blurring content, as opposed to blocking a page, means the browser has to classify what is on screen and act on it while the page is still usable. It is a good example of AI built into the browser rather than added on as an extension.

About the product
Kahf Browser is made by Kahf Yazılım A.Ş. in Türkiye. Kahf describes it as a free, AI-powered browser that blurs explicit images, blocks harmful sites and removes ads and trackers, rooted in Islamic values and built for families.
It is available for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and Kahf says it is built on the open-source Chromium project. According to Kahf’s website, it has more than 280,000 active installations.
Kahf's website also states it has blocked more than 1.6 million unsafe sites and has more than 1,200 five-star reviews on Google Play, where it holds a 4.5-star rating from roughly 1,470 reviews. The browser requires no account to use.
