What was built

Orbiti is a Web3 browser built around the BlockCerts ecosystem. Its own orbit:// URL scheme gives BlockCerts services an address space inside the browser instead of relying only on standard http/https links, and pairing that with ecosystem notifications and built-in chat keeps a person connected to that ecosystem without switching to a separate app. Signing in with BlockCerts, rather than a separate account, ties the browser's identity layer directly to the wallet and services it's built to work with.

The engineering challenge

A custom URL scheme only works if every part of the ecosystem that hands out orbit:// links, and every part of the browser that has to resolve them, agrees on the same format. That coordination is what makes a scheme like this work as a shortcut rather than a broken link.

About the product

ORBITi is a browser from BlockCerts (BlockCerts Blockchain Canada, Inc.), presented as an AI-driven “Web 4.0” browser. According to its App Store listing, it includes tracker, fingerprinting and ad blocking, phishing and malware protection, and a built-in crypto wallet.

It is available on iPhone, iPad and Mac from the App Store. BlockCerts also offers Windows and macOS downloads, which it currently labels as beta.

The download page notes that ORBITi is not yet available for Android or Linux, though it says both are in progress, and that some Windows installs may show a security warning on Windows 7, 10 and 11 while it works with Microsoft to resolve it. The same page describes the browser's focus as secured browsing with blockchain technology, including encrypted video, chat and email tools built into the browser.
